Easter Egg Hunt
Eggs and bunnies are a well-known part of Easter, and one that is here to stay. Yet they don't tell you much about why we celebrate this holiday. To remedy that, we bring the secular and the religious together. At our Easter Egg Hunt you won't just find eggs, you'll find JESUS! Through crafts, stories, and games we want kids to go home having heard Christ's sacrifice for us and His victory over death winning for us our salvation. The Easter Egg Hunt is held on the Sunday before Easter (also known as Palm Sunday) from 3-5pm.
Crusader Soccer Camp
In conjunction with Lutheran North High School, soccer camp is offered for 1 week during the summer from 9am-Noon, Monday through Friday. Boys and girls 1st-5th grade can attend and focus on honing their moves through skill-building exercises and activities rather than competitive team games. An awards ceremony is held at the end of the week to recognize the accomplishments of each camper. Mid-morning the campers will take a "time out" and enjoy a healthy snack, energizing music and a short devotion. Registration usually begins in late February or March. Forms can be found in the church office or online.
Trunk or Treat
Near Halloween, the church offers a safe place for neighborhood families to come and Trick or Treat with their little “ghouls”. There are two ways to participate: You may pull your car into a designated spot, pop your trunk, decorate it, and offer treats to those coming by, or just come and walk your little one around the “trunks” of other people. Either way, it is a “hoot” for the whole family.
Creation Sensation Summer Art Camp
During the mornings of one week in June, the Mt. Calvary Center for Early Childhood Education hosts a camp for grade school children of the area exploring beauty and nature through art. The campers study 2-4 designated artists, their styles and methods, then work to make their own projects using the style of that artist. The week ends with a wonderful art show of the all the pieces the different participants have made. Some artists studied in the past have been Kandinsky, van Gogh, Chihuly, and Biedermann.
Vacation Bible School
Telling children about Jesus is something that we love to do, especially at Vacation Bible School! Each year we host this weekly event for children 3 years old (and potty trained) through those who have completed 5th grade. Registration is free. The week ends with a Celebration Service and Picnic on Friday at 11:25am. You and your family can come and hear what the kids have been learning and then stay for lunch. Registration forms are usually available in early spring from the church office or on the website.
Christmas Eve Family Service
On Christmas Eve we have a special Christmas service for children and their families. This service allows the children to dress up like the nativity characters and reenact the story of the birth of Jesus in Luke 2. It also has parents participate by being readers during the service. The music is familiar to Christmas and child friendly.
