     God created us as wonderful beings of body, mind and spirit.  We are intricately and wonderfully made!  However, do you ever feel like you focus on one aspect of your being and forget the others?  Where’s the balance?  

     At Mount Calvary we believe we should focus on all parts of our being to bring out the best in God’s creation – US!  Our health and wellness ministry helps us to do just that, maintain and restore wholeness of body, mind and spirit.  We want to live the life God has given us to the fullest – whatever our age or condition. 

     The Health and Wellness Committee, along with the Parish Nurse, do this in a variety of ways for the congregation and the community.   Many of them are listed below.  If you would like to be on the committee, or to find out about how you can receive help in one of these areas, contact Nurse Nancy.

Education
Our parish nurse ministry strives to keep the congregation and the community abreast of health and wellness issues.

• Articles for the church newsletter and the Pulse (Brentwood’s city paper) on a variety of issues related to health of body, mind and spirit, which appear weekly or monthly.
• Health Fairs, such as Healthy Heart, Men’s Health, Women’s Health, Senior Health, bringing health education to the congregation and the community.
• A Healthy Taste – Sunday morning food samples and taste tests to familiarize the congregation with new foods and recipes that are easy, tasty, and nutritious.

Exercise

• Free exercise classes on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings!  Classes are open to members and the community, and modifications are made for all age and activity levels.  This group also has a sharing & support session each Monday.
