The Lord's Supper/Holy Communion
The Lord’s Supper is served at both services on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month, where we offer both the common and individual cup.
Mount Calvary believes that Holy Communion is a gift of Christ to His Church. The apostle Paul wrote, "Let a man examine himself, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment upon himself" (I Corinthians 11:28-29). Out of loving concern for the communicants and from our understanding of the Holy Scriptures and the Lutheran Confessions, we request that those who commune here:
We request all communicants to join us in acknowledging the preceding affirmation of our understanding of the Holy Communion. Noncommuning children may join their parents at the alter. They are to fold their hands and bow their heads for a blessing. If you have questions, you may call the church office to meet with the pastor. Baptism
Our Heavenly Father wants to call each person His own, whether young or old. Therefore, in accordance with the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod tradition, Mount Calvary practices infant baptism. If you would like to have your child baptized, or would like to be baptized yourself, please contact the church office.
Confirmation
An important rite of passage in the life of a young person in the Church is Confirmation, an act of confessing your faith in Jesus publicly to the congregation. This day is usually celebrated in the spring and is preceded by 2-3 years of preparatory Bible and Catechism study. Adult confirmation classes are held as well. If you or your child (6th grade or above) would like to learn more about confirmation classes, please contact the church office.
