Field Workers: Training in Progress
Mount Calvary, along with many other Lutheran churches, works in conjunction with Concordia Seminary St. Louis to train pastors and deaconesses for future ministry. Upon a student's entrance to a seminary program, they are given a "field work church" where they attend and participate in the life of that congregation, perhaps leading Bible studies, church services, children's messages, preaching, making hospital calls and the like. This helps the student gather experience and practice what he or she is learning in the classroom. These students are usually with a church for 2-3 years. Mount Calvary is blessed to participate in this program. Our Seminary student families are as much of a blessing to our church as Mount Calvary is to their formation.
