Sunday School & Bible ClassesMount Calvary offers several opportunities for nourishing your faith.
For Adults: Bible Classes are held on Sunday mornings at 8am & 10:30am in the conference room, and at 9am in the lower level. Each study is different depending on your interests. For Children: Sunday School is held on Sunday mornings from 9-10am in Schroeder Hall. Here is what Mount Calvary offers according to age level: Playtime With Jesus – (1-3 years) A loosely-structured class where children learn about Jesus, sing songs, and play. Taking into account the child’s attention span and developmental level, the teacher will engage the children with a short lesson, either individually or as a group. The concepts are simple and repeated often throughout the year for greater retention. BUZZ – (3 years- 5th grade) These students meet first as a large group to sing songs, learn of special projects and collect offering, then they break up into their classes. The multi-age classes are small, interactive, engaging and fun! The teachers use Group Publishing’s BUZZ Curriculum. It takes a key concept, reinforces it with a Bible lesson and activities, and then helps the kids apply it to their lives. Each quarter brings a new theme and new activities, so it never gets boring. Summer Sunday School – During the summer, we take a break from our regular curriculum to try something new. This gives variety to the program, provides flexibility for summer travelers, and gives the regular Sunday School teachers a break. For the summer of 2011 we will be learning about the Armor of God. Confirmation – (6th & 7th grade & parents) Led by Rev. Dr. Leo Sanchez, these young people and their parents look at the doctrines of the Church, discuss why they are important and what they mean for their life today. The class meets from 9-10:15 in the conference room on Sunday mornings. At times they even schedule special outings as a class. Confirmation class meets during the school year and breaks from June-August. 8th grade confirmation has its own schedule and activities with the pastor at various times throughout the year. Youth Devotions - Starting this summer, the high school youth will be meeting on Sunday mornings at 10:15 in the youth room for a short devotion & discussion relevant to the issues and experiences these young people face everyday, fortifying them for the week to come. |
